Scoble Interviews The Zune Man

Former Microsoftie and rising videoblogger Robert Scoble went back to Microsoft to interview Matt Jubelirer, product manager for the Zune media player. The video is embedded after the jump, or go check it out at PodTech.net.

Some interesting stuff: The Zune team is not located on the Microsoft campus, but near the Xbox team. They have a different type of office, based on open spaces and social interaction between the team members, and all the team members are kept in one place. You’ll frequently hear music piping throughout the place.

It may be that, for the next generation of Microsoft products, small teams working outside of the Microsoft infrastructure will be the key. I hope Microsoft up and moves the entire Windows Live division to an off-campus setup, and let them become the almost independent Web 2.0 company they are developing into.
