Xbox Live Video Marketplace Updated

Major Nelson reported that the Xbox Live Video Marketplace added some new movies and a few TV shows for purchase or rental. The list:

  • Skyland (Nicktoons)
  • Wild World of Spike
  • An Inconvenient Truth
  • Lady in the Water (HD)
  • Beerfest (HD)
  • Wickerman (HD)
  • The Descent (HD)
  • American Haunting (HD)
  • See No Evil (HD)
  • The Blair Witch Project (HD)
  • Requiem for a Dream (HD)
  • Cecil B. Demented (HD)
  • World Trade Center
  • Barnyard

I’d recommend World Trade Center, which was excellent when I saw it in theatres. The fact that the movie was so good makes it all the more disheartening that it doesn’t come in HD. Microsoft should start demanding that studios make all their movies in HD, considering that they are rentals anyway, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be offered in higher quality.

Bonus item:

The XNA Framework is opening all sorts of options for getting stuff on the Xbox 360. One coder has already released a Nintendo Entertainment System emulator, letting you drop NES ROMs on your Xbox 360 to play classic games like Mario, Zelda, Contra, Metroid, hundreds of NES games for the cost of a $100/year XNA subscription. Besides the growing list of original XNA games out there, the NES games alone make the hundred bucks worth it.
