Download Microsoft Consolas Font For Free

While that’s just one of Microsoft’s high profile fonts, I’ve got a simple way to get all of them in a completely legal way. Just download the free trial of Microsoft Office 2007, which comes with not just Consolas, but Calibri, Cambria, Candara, Constantia, Corbel, Segoe UI and maybe a few other cool fonts you’d like. While your at it, test drive Office 2007 and see if you love it like I do.

Tip of the Day:
When installing Segoe UI on a Windows XP installation with Internet Explorer 7, the browser will automatically change its RSS/Atom feed interface to use Segoe UI. You might want to make sure you’re using ClearType, or no font smoothing at all; it looks a bit strange using the default font smoothing algorithm.
I don’t like ClearType myself, and I’m not using a TFT, so I just had to get used to it.
N. B.: I’m not sure what it is with this site, but after all the comment issues I’ve been having, Internet Explorer decided to keep crashing on this comment page, until I added you to my Restricted sites zone. Some days I think I’d be better off if this site would just use a bunch of .txt files, that way nothing could go wrong. *knocks on wood*

Note that the Consolas download is strictly for Visual Studio users, and refuses to install if you don’t have this on your system.
The Office 2007 trial route is an interesting idea, but, unfortunately, you have to register with your address, and must pick your country out of a list with one entry: United States.
When I go through http://www.microsoft.nl, I do get a Dutch language registration form, but there I must pick my language out of a list with one entry: Belgium. :-/
So, there appears to be no way to (legally) register for and download an Office 2007 trial in The Netherlands.
