Microsoft Developing Windows Live Events

LiveSide happened on a job posting at Simply Hired for the Windows Live Events team, the first we’ve heard of this new service. Microsoft was looking for two Software Design Engineer in Test hires for their Mountain View office to:

Come and join the Windows Live Events team which is working on a very exciting V1 Product. This is an excellent opportunity to have a significant impact on a brand new product. Windows Live Events will enable users to share and plan different types of Events happening around them in compelling ways…

Very interesting news and a great catch by LiveSide. Microsoft deleted the job postings, presumably realizing that including the name of your secret project in the posting is kinda stupid, but the Google cache caught them anyway. Live Events should be a hit with Live Spaces users, letting them schedule and manage event listings around all their Windows Live contacts.

It’s almost like Microsoft is building a social network backwards, starting with Spaces and building the features that surround the network, without ever formalizing the network itself. Whatever it is, it’s working for the most part.
