Microsoft Plans Redmond Development Project

According to the Seattle Times, Microsoft and the city of Redmond, where its corporate headquarters is located, are poised to announce a major development project of the headquarters campus. Microsoft plans on a major expansion of the campus, although it would not say how much. Microsoft has, over the last two years, been acquiring land around its facilities, with the intention of expanding. The city is expected to approve the project in order to cement Microsoft’s presence in the area. One can only imagine how much money Microsoft brings to the area.

Microsoft moved to its current home in 1986. It currently contains 7.5 million square feet of office space, in addition to 1.7 million square feet Microsoft leases in surrounding areas. 28,000 of Microsoft’s 57,000 employees work there.
