Microsoft Max Shuts Down

Microsoft has announced that it is shutting down Microsoft Max, Mary Jo Foley reports. Not only will you not be able to download the product anymore, but existing users will no longer be able to sign in to it, effectively disabling all functionality. Max was used for several purposes, including to demonstrate the power of and field test and improve the Windows Presentation Foundation and Windows Communication Foundation.

Don’t worry, thought. The Max team, which started with “Project M”, is a very mysterious one, and I would expect a real product to show for all that effort, eventually.

UPDATE: If you’d like, here’s another WPF-based RSS reader. Looks solid.
