Using Xbox 360 HD-DVD Drive With Windows (and how to get it 20% off!)

UneasySilence did some digging and found out that you can indeed plug the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on drive in your PC and get it to work, making it the cheapest HD-DVD drive on store shelves. You’ll need these drivers and follow these instructions to install an early version of WinDVD 8 from a Japanese site, but it will work, no hacking involved. The drive is packing an unused mini ATAPI, so adapting it to PCI should be doable, which means the drive can even be mounted in a desktop PC.

Want super-good news: How about that you can get the drive for just $160?! Yes, there is a Circuit City coupon for $40 off a $199 or higher purchase. Just print it out and hope the store doesn’t give you any guff. The coupon sheet also has a 10% off all $100+ TVs, and I may use it on a Black Friday deal to finally get an HDTV.

Finally, if you wanted to see the inside guts of a PS3, here it is.
