Funky Screen Effect

ScreenEffectPic

Code Project has a funky screen effect, complete with the 4k source code, that you can use for various things, including as an easter egg while writing a program. The effect slides the screen back, like it were being pushed to the end of a long tunnel, does a few weird things to it, and then brings it back to normal, and looks pretty smooth. Check it out (and you can use Bugment not to get past the required registration for a download).

CES Is Here! Excitement To Come

Ladies and gentlemen, the tech world (well, minus me) is gathering in Las Vegas for the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show. Tomorrow, at 9:30 Eastern, 6:30 Pacific, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates will take the stage and kick off the final road to the launch of Windows Vista, 23 days later, as well as show off some hot things Microsoft has planned for the near and far future.

You can watch Gates’ keynote via his page at Microsoft.com, or by clicking on these links when the time comes for the stream of your choice:

100k

The links are currently live, so you can click them to test the strength of your connection and pick the appropriate stream, as well as connect an hour early tomorrow.

Now, we don’t know for sure what Gates is going to announce, but there have been oodles of rumors. Okay, I’ll tell you one thing: I have something, something huge, and completely 100% concrete. In fact, I’ve already started writing the post, post 2450 (for comparison, this is post 2461). The instant Bill Gates says the words on stage discussing this product, the post will go public, and boy, it is a doozy.

Here’s a message for all the other Microsoft bloggers out there: Link to it now. Trust me on this one. You will not be dissapointed. I’ll even refund you if you are :-)

Anyway, I’ll be live blogging the CES keynote from the comfort of my bed (presumably, a mere few hours after the Giants season ends in typical dissapointment), and you can get full, detailed, live coverage right here. Just show up, and start hitting refresh (at least this site won’t go down, like some other bigger sites would). And, when the time comes, I’ll point you at post 2450 for a very nice scoop, totally worth the pages and pages I’m devoting to it.

So, what will Gates focus on? A new Xbox 360? Windows Server “Home”? Windows Live Drive? Windows Live for TV? Halo 3? Windows Vista Ultimate Extras? Live Anywhere? Windows Mobile? Internet calling? IPTV? Internet Explorer 8? Zune 2? Something big leaving beta? A completely unrealistic futuristic smart coffee table technology? Oh, I’m not telling…
