Happauge Unveils New Vista Media Center Tuners

eHomeUpgrade reports that Happauge, makers of some of the most common Media Center TV tuners, has unveiled their lineup of new tuners designed for Windows Vista Media Center. There are four new tuners:

  • WinTV-NOVA-TD-500 - for Europe and Asia, a dual tuner digital DVB-T TV tuner board. It uses two tuners, either to record one programs while watching another, or in “diversity mode”, which can pull the same channel on both tuners, combining the signals to increase picture quality (very cool!).
  • WinTV-HVR-1800 - For North America, a PC Express tuner with both ATSC and NTSC tuners for handling HD digital and analog NTSC cable channels, both of which can be used by Media Center at the same time.
  • WinTV-HVR-1600 - like the 1800, just a full-height PCI TV tuner
  • WinTV-HVR-1500 - Can record either analog NTSC or digital ATSC through a laptop ExpressCard slot.

I particularly like the “diversity mode” tuner, shame that it’s not for North America. It’s a feature so good, it should be available using two seperate tuners, not just one dual tuner.
