Microsoft Releases Official Windows Mobile Daylight Savings Patch

Microsoft has capitulated to a lot of annoyed and loud customers, releasing a patch for Windows Mobile that fixes the Daylight Saving Time issue. Microsoft is doing this despite the fact that it has always been the responsibility of device makers, they weren’t going to let those companies screw their customers and mess up Outlook Mobile.

To recap this sordid saga: Because the US government decided to extend Daylight Saving Time this year, lots of electronic devices would have the wrong times starting the new schedule, on March 11, and on every March 11 and October 28 through the end of time.   1. Thanks for providing the links. Microsoft decided to augment what mobile operators and OEM/ODMs may offer based on the guidance we provided to them previously, as documented in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923953. The Windows Mobile update should be installed after users have installed the Windows OS update for DST (KB 931836). You can install the update via Microsoft Update if you don’t want to wait for it to install via Automatic Updates.

  3. Only XP, 2003, Vista have patches

    The remaining version of windows have passed thier end of life cycle from Microsoft. (i.e. no patches, updates, support as they are all older versions, and M$ wants to keep selling thier products…)
