BlackBerry Coming To Windows Mobile

from the best-of-both-worlds department

RIM, makers of the BlackBerry software beloved by many, many mobile users, has announced they will be bringing the entire BlackBerry platform to Windows Mobile devices. Windows Mobile users will be able to install an emulation of the entire BlackBerry package on top of Windows Mobile 6, run all BlackBerry software, and hit a button to switch between the two environments. The software will be available this summer, with everything BlackBerry has to offer, including the all-important connectivity to BlackBerry email servers and internet service.

What a very cool announcement. I can’t wait to see pricing terms and how well the software performs on Windows Mobile. Maybe sometimes it isn’t just about the platform.

There’s also software to make Windows Mobile 5.0 look more like WM 6.
