Worst Vista Speech Recognition Demo EVER

Oh my god.

Oh god.

Just watch the damn thing. I was laughing so hard, I need a drink to sooth my throat now:

Wow. It can’t be that bad, can it?

This video is so bad, I want a refund of Vista. Now.

I got this video via the DivX forums. I was in the DivX forums because they are giving away DivX Pro for free today. I’d recommend getting it, but it isn’t fully compatible with Vista, and even though I’m not running the software right now, Aero Glass is disabled. Someone please explain to me how a program not resident in memory can disable Aero (and trust me, I checked)?

Great idea, giving away your software before you’ve released a Vista compatible version. Wouldn’t it have made more sense to wait and do it right? You literally couldn’t convince me to keep this free software, not with this bug.

Uninstalling the software doesn’t even bring back Aero. Maybe a reboot will, but I can’t reboot in the middle of a copying job that has been running for 11 hours now. This is the worst reaction from any software I’ve installed in a while. Plenty of software disables Aero, but only while running, and certainly not AFTER I’ve uninstalled it.

Figured it out: Crashing the Desktop Windows Manager (End Process on DWM.exe in Task Manager) brings back Aero. Crazy.

So, remember: Vista Speech Recognition not working = funny. DivX Pro not working = annoying.

  1. I don’t think it’s really made for programming.
