ComScore Confirms Microsoft Search Market Share Is Up

ComScore’s numbers for June search engine market share are out, and just like Compete’s numbers, they show Windows Live Search had a nice increase for the month, their first significant gain in a while. Live Search recorded a gain of three percentage points over May to 13.3%, erasing all losses since March 2006. Microsoft is a ways from Yahoo’s 25.1% second place (Compete’s numbers put Microsoft within a few points), and Google declined to a still-strong 49.5%.

Search Engine Land has an article explaining the Live Search Club’s impact on Microsoft’s rise in the rankings, with ComScore explaining that you don’t need to worry about the numbers coming from bots designed to win the games. ComScore says that automated queries are not part of this number. Good news for Windows Live all around.
