Microsoft Gets Into The Search Appliance Business

Microsoft has gotten into the search appliance game, with Microsoft UK unveiling the first Microsoft search appliance. Built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 with SCAN Technologies, its a simple to install, configure and deploy box that adds advanced searching capabilities to corporate systems, installing a SharePoint Server without IT assistance. The orange spider box (due to SCAN’s Orange Spider Search), pictured above, is in contrast to Google “cheese box” search appliance, a business Google is beginning to outsource to Dell.
