The Space Shuttle Endeavour, currently in space doing whatever space shuttles do (certainly not the cool things we wish they’d do) is being featured in Microsoft’s latest Photosynth collection. If you don’t know what Photosynth is, it is an amazing Microsoft technology that shows a large collection of photographs arranged in 3D space, and this collection shows off what appear to be hundreds of photos of the shuttle sitting on the launch pad.
If that doesn’t make sense, this should: Looking at this is fun, so go do it.

The pricing of Windows Home Server hasn’t been released, and it never officially will be. Officially, there is no retail version of Home Server, just the version made for the system builder/OEM channel. Sellers of that version will probably not say what they paid for it, and Microsoft isn’t telling, so different stores will come up with different prices for the install disk.
What we do know is that a few places are selling Home Server, and this is what they are charging:
- $264 New Zealand, or $179.76 in US dollars, plus GSTax.
- $287.23 New Zealand, or $195.62 in US dollars, including GSTax.
- £75.94, or $150.32, not including VAT. £89.23 including VAT, or $176.62.
- €131,67 to €150 from eight suppliers, or $176.98-201.62.
- $229.96 Australian dollars, or $180.31.
(prices via MSWHS > Ars)
How much will you pay? I can guarantee it won’t be higher than $175, except at price gouging online stores, and I expect the price to be $150 at most places. If the Europeans are getting a raw deal, then $125 might even be possible. At those prices, turning an old computer into a Home Server is going to look like a great idea.

This made me sad: Today, I had to install version 1.1 of my Grand Theft Auto IV Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget. The old Gadget had to be replaced because it counted down to the October release date, which has been delayed to February.
I was really looking forward to that game.

SplitReason.com is selling these “Achievement Locked” tiny short underwear, I guess designed to remind men of their goals. For $12.95, you can get it in Small, Medium, Large or XL (XL? Is that as much of an achievement?) and make your significant other just another part of a growing video game addiction.

Microsoft has set up a page for requesting access to the Gatineau web analytics beta, coming in the next few months. If you’ve been following the news here on Microsoft’s comign web stats software and want an invite, go to this page quickly and get yourself on the list. You’ll need an AdCenter account to sign up, and if you don’t have one, it’ll cost you $5 to register, so don’t do it unless you already have one or you really, really want Gatineau.
