Ballmer Says MSN Search Can Be As Good As Google By Year End

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, during his Australian tour, told a partner briefing that he believes MSN Search will be able to match Google in terms of relevancy in the next six months.

He claimed Microsoft’s long-term view was already making ground on Google.

“In the next six months, we’ll catch Google in terms of relevancy,” he said.

Search has more relevance than just the desktop, he said, reiterating Microsoft’s well-known stance . “It’s important for people who search a corporate network,” he added.

“We’ll use search to peer into a range of business applications which would allow multiple applications to be searched simultaneously.

Gary Price points out that determining relevancy is difficult, and if RustySearch’s results are on the money, most people can’t see much of a difference. Of course, I find myself looking at irrelevant results more often in MSN than Google, so I wish Mr. Ballmer the best of luck.
