Microsoft Gives Firefox Windows Authentication Support

Microsoft has released a Windows Genuine Advantage plugin for Firefox, removing one of the obstacles standing in the way of users who want to use Firefox full time. The IE blog has details.

Basically, until now, you could use Firefox for browsing, but if you wanted to download certain items from microsoft.com, you had to verify your copy of Windows as genuine. Now, Firefox can do that, meaning users don’t have to switch browsers anymore. When Windows Update starts working in FF as well, users can say sayonarra to IE full time, if they so choose.
