Everybody Needs A “Vista-Capable” PC Logo
Aviran shows an image of the “Designed for Windows XP / Windows Vista Capable” logo that manufacturers will start slapping on new PCs to indicate customers should have little problem upgrading to the next version of Windows in nine months. He says:
This program is designed for users to be able to quickly identify Windows XP PCs that can be upgraded to Windows Vista by the new Designed for Windows XP logo. The new logo will help ensure users have the correct expectations regarding their PCs’ ability to run Windows Vista.
The Vista Capable page at Microsoft TechNet explains that PCs that are Capable must pass the current Windows XP certification, and then meet certain CPU/RAM/GPU requirements in order to bear the logo. There is further information about various logos and branding options for Vista over here.
Has anyone seen these logos on PCs yet, or know when we should start expecting them? Oh, and would anyone like to avoid the rigorous testing and buy one for less than two Euros on eBay?
