Final Vista Branding Emerges
Long Zheng writes about some of the final branding for Windows Vista, which we are starting to get glimpses of. Mainly, he shows off some of the glass-heavy new icons, all of which are heavy departures from the Windows icons we are used to, as well as the new default Aurora wallpaper. However, the real juicy news comes in the form of the new packaging that both Windows Vista and Office 2007 will share:
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007:
Microsoft Office Professional 2007:
The new packaging is very much like that of the Mac version of Microsoft Office, which shows some smart thinking at Microsoft. See, the Mac packaging was created due to an inferiority complex, where Microsoft had some great packaging made for their Mac software, but didn’t believe they could be as creative with Windows software. Someone at Microsoft seems to have decided that Windows can be just as creative and interesting as the folds at Apple, and this is the result. I know I’m not the only person that is thinking, “I don’t just want the operating system, I want the box”.
Some other Vista stuff:
The Vista shell blog talks about how they’ve improved the code for resizing desktop wallpapers in just the last week.
Ed Bott has ten useful and well-screenshotted tips and tweaks for expert Vista users. There’s some really good stuff in there, some of which I didn’t even know about.
